COVID-19 forced us to switch to different ways of working and keeping in touch with patients. Thanks to the ‘virtual hospital’, run by West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, more than 1,500 people with COVID-19 have been managed out of hospital settings, saving valuable NHS bed spaces and keeping patients safe and comfortable in their own homes. This model of care has prevented several hundred admissions and helped patients feel safe while being treated remotely. Over 10,000 virtual consultations have also taken place.
